3 Universal Methods of Crystal Cleansing For Beginners

The internet is full of ways to cleanse and charge your crystals but I highly recommend doing some research to see which methods align with your ancestry and spiritual practice. Today I’m going to show you the easiest ways I cleanse and charge my crystals that can be used by anyone, regardless of cultural background.

Once home from the store, I do either a saltwater soak or place them in the garden or at the base of my potted plants depending on the fragility of the crystal. Some softer crystals like those in the gypsum family (satin spar, selenite, desert rose) will disintegrate in water.

If using a saltwater soak I will leave the crystals overnight then carefully dry them with a cloth or paper towel the next day. Saltwater is a natural disinfectant too, so we are killing any germs. If their energy is clear but not feeling robust, I will add the next step which also cleanses and charges them.

I’ve found putting my crystals in the flower bed or garden outside is one of the best ways to cleanse and charge my crystals and stones. We want to return the crystals as close to their original vibration as possible so it makes sense that providing them with contact with the earth would be refreshing. If you don’t have a garden and live in an apartment this next option works as well.

If you carry your crystals and wear your crystal jewelry all day, putting it at the base of a plant to cleanse and recharge overnight can be part of your bedtime routine. Then the next morning I let my intuition guide my choice of crystal to carry or wear.

And finally, one of the most common ways is to leave your crystals outside during a full or new moon and bringing them back inside at dawn. I prefer full moon energy vs new moon energy but you can try it out for yourself and see which you prefer.

All of the crystals I use personally and for healing sessions get cleansed immediately after use and all get recharged under the full moon. I also own duplicates of my favorite crystals so while one is in use, the other is recharging.

Ultimately, once you have been working with your crystals and established a relationship, you will be able to tune into your crystals and intuitively be guided to know when and how often to cleanse and charge them.
